Tiger lilies are showy, vibrant orange flowers with deep red/purple spots near the centre. There’s a superstition that if you smell tiger lilies you’ll get freckles.

The bulbs were used as food by some Indigenous people, usually steamed or boiled. They’re bitter and peppery tasting, so were mostly used to flavour food.
