Hoof Fungus
GUEST POST – By Jim
Found these Hoof Fungus on the Sooke Wilderness Trail, just past the Humpback water reservoir. They were growing on an old log, from a tree which had been chopped down. Very shady spot, with lots of big cedar and douglas fir trees around. This was a small cluster of hoof fungus, which grows all year round. They felt tough and rock-like to touch. Apparently indigenous people used them as tinder for fire. They’re rumoured to fight cancer and reduce inflammation.
